A MAN was arrested on suspicion of possession of a machete in a public place.
Police were called shortly before 5.25pm on Thursday, March 9 to reports that a man in possession of a machete was making threats to members of the public in Wickham Square.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Police said: “We attended and arrested a 39-year-old man from Wickham on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. He has been released on conditional bail while our enquiries continue.”
Officers are now appealing for more information and have released an image of three people seen in the area at the time who they believe may be able to help.
The individuals photographed or others who recognises the three people or any other witnesses have been asked to get in touch.
