THE Mayor of Winchester formally opened a new luxury care home in Compton.
Barchester Healthcare’s newest facility, Shawford Springs, was pronounced open on Thursday, March 2.
The event, hosted by commercial director Simon McCall and general manager Julie House, saw guests explore the care home in Otterbourne Road which is welcoming its first residents.
Speaking at the grand opening, the Mayor of Winchester, Cllr Angela Clear said: “I am delighted to be here to open Shawford Springs care home. It is very good to see Barchester investing with such confidence in the future of care in the county – that investment will ensure not only top-quality facilities and world-class care but also jobs, training and a boost to the local economy.

Barchester runs more than 200 care homes across the UK and strives to put residents’ choice at the core of what they do, whether that’s dining, hospitality or enrichment programmes.
Shawford Springs will provide residential, respite and dementia care with 64 bedrooms across three floors as well as accessible kitchen and garden areas for residents to engage in everyday activities.
