THE Mayor of Winchester formally opened a new luxury care home in Compton.

Barchester Healthcare’s newest facility, Shawford Springs, was pronounced open on Thursday, March 2.

The event, hosted by commercial director Simon McCall and general manager Julie House, saw guests explore the care home in Otterbourne Road which is welcoming its first residents.

Speaking at the grand opening, the Mayor of Winchester, Cllr Angela Clear said: “I am delighted to be here to open Shawford Springs care home. Shawford Springs will provide residential, respite and dementia care with 64 bedrooms across three floors as well as accessible kitchen and garden areas for residents to engage in everyday activities.
