A ROMSEY man recently won a silver medal in the World Rowing Indoor Championships.
Mike Marsh took part in the competition on February 25, and finished second in the 2,000m, missing out on first by just 1.4 seconds.
Despite the event being held in Toronto, Canada, Mike was eligible to take part remotely, on his rowing machine in his garage.
After the race, Mike, of Cupernham Lane, said: “I'm very pleased with the silver medal, which will be sent in the post. I gave first place a go but hit the wall in the sprint finish and just missed out by 1.4 seconds, finishing the 2,000m in 6:18.7.

“I was supported by my family, huddled in my garage - and friends and family watching on the World Rowing Youtube channel.”
Mike, 46, competed for Australia as he has dual British/Australian citizenship.
Before the race, he said: “Everyone competes on the same make/model of rowing machine - Concept2 - which can connect over the internet to allow competing remotely.
“Last year there were competitors from 66 countries, from professional rowers to former NFL and rugby players to keep fit enthusiasts.
“I live in Romsey with my family, after we moved back from Australia last year.”
