Staff at a Romsey pub have been celebrating two accolades after its launch last summer.
The Duke on the Test scored a 9.1 (out of 10) in its Traveller Review Awards from Booking.com and in a six-month period it broke all forecasts, creating more than 25,000 meals.
In January alone, when most restaurants are quieter, The Duke on the Test broke all previous monthly records.
These major milestones follow on from The Duke on the Test securing a five-star rating from VisitEngland.
Mark Pinn, general manager, said: “We have only been open just over six months and have got off to a very good start. All the staff and management would like to thank our loyal, local customers who come back time and time again. We could not have done it without them. Our main focus now is keeping our standards and quality high.”
The future looks bright for The Duke on the Test with Mark projecting busier months ahead. He said: “We have been taking bookings for March and April and always advise customers to book with us to save disappointment. We are looking forward to our first full spring and summer.

“The Duke on the Test is a wonderful place to meet, eat, drink and sleep in the heart of the Test Valley. We are a stone’s throw from the River Test which makes for a stunning location for customers. We are very dog-friendly in the bar with the added bonus of selected rooms for customers and their four-legged friends to stay, as well as enjoying a river walk just a few yards from our car park. We are serving delicious home-cooked gastropub dishes alongside local real ales and a fabulous selection of wines and spirits.”
Customers can enjoy an extended bar and many dining areas, a fantastic breakfast, as well as outside patio space. Other features include a double aspect log burner, as well as a snug and library area. Many of the original features have remained including oak beams and an Inglenook fireplace.
The Duke on the Test is managed in conjunction with the hugely popular The Four Horseshoes in Nursling which also won a hat trick of TripAdvisor awards.
