WHILE grateful to Southern Water for my AVANT bottled water, I was astonished to see from the label that it was from Turkey.
How I wonder did this get here? By lorry (1,500 miles), by sea or, God forbid, by air? Have the company calculated the carbon footprint?
The company has a NET ZERO plan for being carbon neutral by 2030 but the transport of large quantities of bottle water from Turkey does not seem to be part of it. Could the director responsible for Sustainability, (Dr Toby Willison from the company blurb) please explain why they have not sourced this from the UK, what the carbon emissions were and how these are to be offset.
Yours appalled,
Chris Corcoran,
