THE police are investigating thefts from motor vehicles in Alresford.
Vehicles were targeted in The Dean, Arle Gardens, Huxley Drive, Oak Hill, Station Approach and Nursery Road at around 3am last Thursday, February 16.
Officers are requesting Ring doorbell or dashcam footage; call 101 and quote crime reference 44230064954.

ALRESFORD Town Council is looking into how to reduce light pollution for players at the tennis club.
The football pitch floodlights are Arlebury Park are causing a glare on the nearby tennis court, reports the council.
The council clerk will look into contacting the floodlight company, about changing the angle of the floodlights.
The tennis club reported that they received a £25,000 government Covid grant, which will enable court resurfacing when necessary.

DON'T forget to order your compost. That's the message from Alresford Pigs.
The charity fundraisers will deliver the 40 litres bags of peat-free compost for free to addresses within five miles of the town, including Ropley.
The bags are £8 each and are suitable for a range of applications including potting-on, planting out and as a growing bag.
The Pigs expect to deliver on the weekend of March 4-5.

A REMINDER that a large trail running event will be held on the Matterley Estate near Tichborne on Saturday March 4, starting and finishing at Matterley Farm.
It is the third time the estate has been used for the Maverick event, the previous runs being in June 2021 and last March.
Up to 550 runners could take part in the event which features three routes, of 24 km, 16km and 9km. The longest route includes Tichborne, Cheriton, Hockley, Lane End, Longwood Warren, Cheesefoot Head and Gander Down.
The event starts at 10am and the last runner is expected to finish by 2pm.


ALRESFORD civic chiefs have bought a thermal imaging camera to help residents identify heat loss in their homes.
The aim is that the camera will help residents reduce their carbon emissions and winter fuel bills.
The town council has donated the camera to New Leaf Alresford, who will administer the loan scheme which will be free although donations will be appreciated.
The camera will show heat loss and encourage ways to tackle it such as insulation, draught excluders, radiator reflectors, thermal curtains, double or triple glazing.
The organisers hope people will share their images including 'before and after' shots.

ALRESFORD Rotary has donated £5,000 towards the earthquake relief effort in Turkey and Syria.
The money has come from community fundraising events such as the November bonfire and fireworks night and the December Christmas Tree sale. 

ROADWORKS are looming for country lanes near Alresford in the coming weeks.
A temporary road closure will be in place for up to 10 days at Woodlands south-east of the junction with Wood Lane. The closure between 8am and 4pm is due to start on Wednesday February 22.
Near Bighton, part of Sutton Wood Lane will be shut between the junction with Bighton Dean Lane and Goscombe Lane for one day on Wednesday March 1.

HAMPSHIRE Highways workers have been out and about in the Alresford area working on removing debris from drains.
Locations included Cheriton, East Tisted, West Tisted and West Meon.
It says it is part of a programme of extra checks following the wet weather several weeks ago.
