‘Your Council News’ has landed in my in-box. I read the good news that ‘we’ve been allocated £1m to the ‘Benefit of Communities’. Excellent, but not really very much.
I read in the very next paragraph that the first beneficiary is to be an ‘Enchanted Light Garden’ in Abbey Gardens.
Can someone please explain how this event will be a ‘benefit’, except maybe to the bus services, maybe the city car parks, maybe to the city centre pubs and bistros? Hardly much benefit to those whose incomes are too small to provide the essentials of life, who will really need it.
