NAOMI House & Jacksplace has announced the appointment of a new chair of its board of trustees.

The Hampshire-based hospices for children and young adults has appointed Andy Meehan as its new chair.

Andy brings a wealth of professional expertise and extensive experience to the charity, which will help to ensure the growth and sustainability of the charity’s services.

He will join the charity’s team of trustees who each volunteer their time and expertise to the benefit of the hospices.

A chartered accountant, Andy has enjoyed more than 30 years as a senior business executive.

Andy said: “I’m delighted to be appointed chair for Naomi House & Jacksplace, which is an outstanding and much-loved charity, fortunate to have the support of its local community.

“Having recently moved to the area, I was eager to use my expertise to support a cause I’m deeply passionate about.

“The sector faces several challenges and I’ll be working collaboratively with my fellow trustees and colleagues across the trust to continue to build our charitable services long into the future.

“I’m looking forward to meeting the families who Naomi House & Jacksplace serve, as well as the generous communities and supporters who do so much to help the children and young adults in our care.”

Since 2006, Andy has had a portfolio of chairmanships and non-executive directorships across commercial, public and charity sectors.

His not-for-profit appointments have focused mainly on education and health.

Prior to relocating to Wiltshire from the Midlands he has been chair of the Myton Hospices and University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust and is now looking forward to supporting the work of Naomi House & Jacksplace in his new locality.

In addition to the Wessex Children’s Hospice Trust, he is currently chairman of Ramsdens Holdings PLC, Polyco Healthline Group, New English Teas Ltd and Shaw Education Trust.

The charity’s former chair, Faith Ramsey, joined as a trustee in 2012 and served as chair for her final three years.

She leaves a record of strong governance and expert leadership, successfully guiding the charity through the unprecedented challenges presented by Covid-19 and its immediate aftermath.

The trustees and senior team thanked Faith for her service and contribution to the charity during her tenure.
