A TRACTOR run was recently held in Romsey and surrounding villages, raising more than £8,000 for two charities.

Romsey Young Farmers organised the run, on December 18, starting at Michelmersh Manor Farm and ending at West Dean.

They have raised more than £8,000 for The Farming Community Network and The Brain Tumour charity.

The theme for the run was Back British Farmers.

More than 150 tractors participated and Alex Drake, from Romsey Young Farmers, was pleased with how it went.

Alex said: “It went very well and the new route worked for us. There were fewer supporters out than previous runs due to the bad weather.

“West Dean Club did a very good job of hosting with live music and two bars.”

Alex, who works for Michelmersh Manor Farm, explained that the mother of one of the employees at the farm was using The Brain Tumour charity, which is why they decided to raised funds for them.

Also, for The Farming Community Network for its crucial work helping farmers with mental health concerns.

The tractor run's route was: Michelmersh and Timsbury, Broughton, Stockbridge, King's Somborne, Romsey, Lockerley Green and finishing at West Dean.
