LITTLETON and Harestock Parish Council (LHPC) has responded to Winchester City Council’s local plan consultation

The local plan sets out a strategy for growth within the district up until 2039. The six week public consultation period ended on December 14. By responding, LHPC hopes to safeguard and enhance the quality of the parish and the wider area.

Significant objections were made to the master plan. The parish council said: “It relies upon the preparation of non-statutory planning documents to deliver the policies of the local plan in respect of strategic land allocations.

“It relies upon landowners and developers to lead the process of preparing a masterplan, that role should be undertaken by WCC.

“It should be redrafted to include a specific requirement that the preparation of a masterplan must include effective and inclusive engagement with the local community.

“Paragraph 5.70 should be amended to state that masterplans must be in place before development proposals are submitted.”

Objections also noted a lack of consideration of parking, landscape quality and biodiversity.

AFTER three years, Farley Nurseries was able to bring back the Nativity plays. Following months of preparations children dressed as angles, shepherds, farm animals, Mary, Joseph and a donkey took to the stage.

Lots of mince pies and mulled wines were on offer for the spectators, with 40 bottles consumed at the Farley Sparsholt Outdoor Nursery School, while the weather was as low as minus five degrees.

In true children’s show style, Mary needed the toilet partway through. Farley Outdoor Nursery Schools posted on Facebook: “A huge well done to all the incredible staff who have practiced with the children for the past few months, and to the children for just being fabulous.”

THE Plough Inn, in Sparsholt, will be hosting Christmas carols from 6.30pm on Friday, December 23. Mulled wine will be flowing and the brass band will be playing to get visitors in the festive spirit. Booking is advised for dinner. To book call 01962 776353 or email theplough@thelittlepubgroup.co.uk.
