A COMEDIAN will be performing at a Winchester venue as part of his first-ever solo tour.

Phil McIntyre Live Ltd has announced that comedian Eshaan Akbar will be embarking on a live tour for his brand new show ‘The Pretender’.

Eshaan has performed sell-out shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and at London’s Soho Theatre. The rising star has opened for Micky Flanagan, and supported the likes of Jason Manford, Sindhu Vee, Adam Rowe, Dan Nightingale, Kae Kurd, Tez Ilyas, Dane Baptiste, Hal Cruttenden, Jan Ravens and Rory Bremner on tour.

Known as "Michael Pakintyre" on Twitter - the Bangladeshi-Pakistani version of comedian Michael McIntyre- the radio presenter is now taking centre stage with his first solo tour from February to April 2023, with a show at The Arc in Winchester on Thursday, March 23.

Eshaan said: “Well, I truly can’t wait to drive thousands of miles around the country to play to tens and tens of you. It would be great to see you.”

As well as stand-up, the 38-year-old has appeared on shows such as Frankie Boyle’s New World Order (BBC Two), The Big Asian Stand Up Night (BBC Two), Sunday Morning Live (BBC One), Good Morning Britain (ITV) and became the first person of Bangladeshi heritage to appear on Mock the Week (BBC Two) and QI (BBC).

The comedian also hosts the 'But Where Are You Really From' podcast on BBC Sounds, Panic Room on Audible, the award-winning business podcast Nine Twenty Nine and his own shows on the BBC Asian Network and LoveSport.
