I was walking through that area on my way to the athletics track on the day and saw the chaos.

Every event in my experience needs an overflow parking facility. There are none at Bar End to serve The Leisure Park, King George V Playing Field, now being refurbished and expanded, or indeed the University Sports Facility which is home to Winchester & Dist. AC who are the 3rd largest athletic club, numbering over 900 members, in the UK.

The athletic facilities are and managed at a very high standard which has attracted favorable comments from many visiting clubs and athletes. The facility will undoubtable attract County and Regional Championships in the future attracting many hundreds of cars to the City of Winchester. League matches would number 200. All this benefits the city and its traders. It’s a win win situation.

The Bar End Depot links all three facilities and facilitates all their needs plus any problems experienced by local residence as a result of expansion.

I have been involved in sport, football, cricket and athletics in Winchester for the past 62 years and seen too many dead ends through lack of vision.

I served for many years on the now defunct Winchester Sports Council.

The pass is passed, the future is tomorrow!

These are my own private views.
