WINCHESTER'S famous annual bonfire and firework display will welcome an exciting new offering this year.

Alongside the pyrotechnics, revelers can feast on an array of locally sourced grub thanks to the addition of a new street food festival.

Winchester Round Table has teamed up with budding New Forest-based events company I AM Group to deliver the concept.

The group's owner, Ashleigh Mutimear-MacMillan, said: "I've been coming to see the fireworks in Winchester for years.

"It's such a beautiful event and so much work goes into it so I thought, why not elevate the food by hosting a beautiful street food festival?"

Ms Mutimear-MacMillan said she wants to 'light up' North Walls Recreation Ground with a host of Hampshire vendors.

Southampton street food award winner Arty-Stan Pizza has been confirmed, as has award contender Earth To Oven. Several other businesses are also soon to be announced.

Mobile event company The Three Cockerels will be providing drinks from breweries and distilleries across the South Downs to some of the older guests.

The quirky Petersfield firm's bar is largely constructed from upcycled materials.

Organisers are hoping to welcome 20,000 people on Saturday, November 5. The impressive city centre display is well-loved by locals and visitors alike and was hugely missed in the previous years due to Covid restrictions.

This year will also see the return of the popular torchlight procession through the High Street before the bonfire is lit and the display begins.
