AN AIRLINE has raised nearly £300,000 through scratch cards for its charity partner since 2013.

Ryanair donated €30,000, equivalent to around £26,000, to Naomi House and Jacksplace on October 27, to support the charity’s work with life-limited and life-threatened children and young adults and their families.

The airline has been working with the Wessex-based charity through its scratch card programme since 2013. The scratch cards give passengers the chance to win prizes such as luxury cars and money as well as a €1M opportunity in Ryanair’s annual ‘Win a Mill’ event held at the airline’s HQ in Dublin, Ireland.

The project was launched to fund charities throughout Europe in 2009 and has since raised €1.6m, of which more than €340,000 (equivalent to nearly £300,000) has gone to the children’s charity and its hospices in Sutton Scotney, near Winchester.

Director of fundraising from Naomi House & Jacksplace, Paul Morgan, said: “We are delighted with the continued support from the team at Ryanair. Their generous donations have made a real difference to the children, young adults and families who use our hospices. We are always inspired by the dedication, understanding and commitment the Ryanair crew show to our charity.

“Through the scratch-card programme, passengers and staff help us to continue to provide expert medical care to life-limited and life-threatened children and young adults. Their support allows us to be there when families need us most. We look forward to the future of this incredible partnership.”

The charity, also known as The Wessex Children's Hospice Trust, helps children and their families from Hampshire, Wiltshire, Berkshire, Dorset and the Isle of Wight through respite care and bereavement support.
