WINCHESTER'S NEWEST takeaway has announced its official opening date after two months of delays.

Burpin Ron's burger bar has announced it will open on Thursday, November 3 after originally announcing an opening date in August.

Owner Nordine Zaa, 36 from Winchester, was forced to push back the opening date.

He said: "There have been so many delays. We have had to re-paint the walls inside five times due to the coldness. At one point we had a problem with the electrics. We had a leak from upstairs as well. It has just been delay after delay."

Burpin Ron's has brought a total of 14  jobs to Winchester.

The burger bar on Stockbridge Road was named after the late Winchester "character" Ron Purse, who was known for burping in people's faces and pushing his decorated pram around during the annual Hat Fair and at Christmas.

The takeaway will offer a menu of burgers, fries, shakes, desserts, and drinks.

Nordine said: "There aren't any other burger restaurants in Winchester that hit the spot. We're using locally sourced ingredients. It's all about good, quality food that we want to provide because Winchester is just missing a good burger joint with great sides.

"There is a lack of choice around Winchester. There's nothing specific for burgers with good quality, personally, so we thought, if we're going to do it, we're going to do it properly.

"We're all about quality. We have gone to three or four suppliers for the burgers and tested each one to make sure the levels are correct for each burger. We have tested everything to make sure they are the best for us. Even the vegetables are locally sourced."
