A SCHOOLGIRL from North Baddesley has been presented with a reply to her award-winning card for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

Pippa Lyons, 10, from North Baddesley Junior School, won a competition to design a card for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in June.

Pippa's card came out on top of a host of entries from children and schools all over the Test Valley borough.

On October 14, the Mayor of Test Valley Cllr Alan Dowden, presented Pippa with a reply to the card from the late Queen, at the Mayor's parlour in Crosfield Hall.

The reply had originally been planned to be presented to Pippa on September 9 but was postponed due to the Queen's death the previous day.

Hampshire Chronicle:

Cllr Dowden presented Pippa with a copy of the reply, with Test Valley Borough Council retaining the original version.

Cllr Dowden said: "It went very well indeed. Pippa asked me lots of questions about the role of the Mayor. She also signed the visitor's book in Crosfield Hall, which hadn't been signed for 18 months.

"She was shocked when we told her that she had a reply to her card. It really brings you down to earth to hear how intelligent and inquisitive children are. North Baddesley can be very proud of Pippa. She's very special."
