A WINCHESTER restaurant is getting a makeover ready for the half-term holidays.

Wagamama Winchester is closing during the day but will be open in the evenings for four days to be refurbished.

The revamp will include a new back bar, Japanese artwork wall designs, bespoke lighting and new tabletops.

From October 17 to 21, the Japanese chain restaurant in Jewry Street will be closed for works until 5pm when it will then open to the public.

The Winchester branch is set to fully re-open and return to normal trading hours from Saturday, October 22 ready for the half-term holiday.

The new look will come with a refreshed menu including gyoza ramen. Available with chicken or yasai gyoza, the ramen dish has a spicy kick and is recommended with the new panchi cocktails. The original steamed yasai gyoza will make a return alongside the addition of salmon gyoza to the autumn menu.

Regional marketing manager, Beth Elston, said: We’re so excited to be seeing our restaurant in Winchester getting a new look. Our restaurant is already stunning with its bespoke character from the listed building so these new additional touches will be just what we need to create a perfect ambience for our guests.

“With the students back in Winchester and the festive season approaching, we know the restaurant will be the perfect setting to host some well awaited get-togethers and even better when they can be enjoyed with our new menu dishes.”

To celebrate the makeover, the restaurant is hosting a private launch night for press and local partners on November 1, with global executive chef Steve Mangleshot attending to showcase the new winter menu.

In October 2021, Wagamama announced the launch of new vegan dishes meaning and became the UK’s first high street restaurant to give plant-based dishes an equal share on its menu as part of its ‘2021 Positive Action Plan.’

The introduction of food such as Spicy Teriyaki Vegan ‘Chicken’ Steamed Buns, Spicy Vegan ‘Short Rib’ Ramen, Teriyaki Vegan ‘Chicken’ Ramen, and Shu’s ‘Shiok’ Jackfruit helped meet the restaurant’s plant-based pledge.
