A COLLEGE in Winchester has landed in the top five for pupils getting offers into Oxford and Cambridge Universities.

Peter Symonds College in Winchester has found itself in fourth place with a total of 56 offers, beating the likes of Eton College.

The news comes as Oxford and Cambridge released figures showing how many offers they gave to pupils from schools in the 2021 Ucas application cycle.

Four state schools are in the top 10 for Oxbridge offers - while the institution that is traditionally a favourite for the prestigious universities, public school Eton, trails behind them in ninth place.

The schools with the highest success rates for applicants, revealed in an analysis by The Telegraph of 2021 Oxbridge offers, are listed below:

Westminster School (79 offers)

The London private school, Westminster, which is usually high up on the table, came out on top again with 79 Oxbridge offers received by students at the £32,247-a-year institution. 

Raffles Junior College (77 offers)

The Singapore International School went up two places in the rankings from last year, with a total of 77 offers.

Hills Road 6th Form College (69 offers)

The Cambridge school was the highest-performing state school, coming in at number three with 69 Oxbridge offers and a 23 per cent success rate.

The college, located in Cambridge, is a selective state school which requires students to get a minimum grade of 6 in each of their GCSEs if they wish to study a subject or 4 in some circumstances.

Peter Symonds College ( 56 offers)

Among other top state schools and sixth forms was Winchester's Peter Symonds College, which came in at fourth in the league - up from sixth place last year.

Students received an impressive 56 offers for Oxford and Cambridge, with a 26.9 per cent success rate.

Brampton Manor Academy (54 offers)

Brampton Manor Academy is a selective sixth form in Newham, east London.

Brampton has seen over 200 students head to Oxford and Cambridge.
