A PATISSERIE chain has bid a sad farewell as it closed its doors in Alresford for the last time.

Earlier this year the chain announced that it would be closing its Alresford branch due to the cost of living crisis, as well as five other branches and relocating its main bakery.

The business, which was founded in 1969, is based on Hayling Island but will move to Emsworth.

It will also close its branches in Mengham, West Town, Havant, Drayton and Cowplain.

Speaking at the time, owner Heidi Elliott said the business was no longer financially viable due to the current economic climate.

The Alresford shop held its last day of trading on Saturday, October 8.

It posted on Facebook: "Wow! What a day. Thank you to every single one of you who came to the shop for there last visit today, never seen the queue for Belgium buns so long, kind words and happy memories, we will forever treasure.

"We would like to wish the best of luck to Loaf Bakery, the planned date for opening will be 31st October.. give them all your support like you have shown to us."
