FULFLOOD residents are poised to celebrate after council chiefs accepted a document they produced to keep a tighter rein on planning decisions.

The neighbourhood design statement for West Fulflood and Oram's Arbour is the latest of several to be adopted by Winchester City Council.

Most of the documents usually apply to villages, but some have been drawn up for parts of Winchester as well, including St Giles Hill.

They aim to set out where residents believe that development should and should not take place.

Council planners will now take the document into account when making decisions in West Fulflood and Oram's Arbour.

The residents who helped to produce it are due to celebrate at the Fulflood Arms pub in Cheriton Road this Friday, (May 16) at 6.30pm.
