Following the death of Her Majesty the Queen, a Winchester florist has grown in popularity as people rush to pay their respects.

The Original Flower Stall, which has been along the High Street for 15 years, has had a busy week as people leave floral tributes across the city.

“A lot of people are buying flowers for the Queen of all ages,” said the owner David Langridge.

“Some people are taking them down to the Abbey Grounds, some people go to The Cathedral. Some people might have a bunch of flowers indoors or a display for their shops."

The florist has joined the country in mourning, dedicating a stand to the Queen at the front of their stall, surrounded by flowers and candles.

“Flowers are quite powerful,” added David. “They themselves say quite a lot and they cheer people up.

“It shows a sign of respect, laying flowers for the queen because she was a good Queen.”

The florist is open Tuesday until Saturday, 8.30am until 5pm. The Original Flower Stall also provides a delivery service, which is available seven days a week.
