A PUB in Kings Worthy will close for a seven-week refurbishment programme on Sunday (March 23).

The Cart and Horse hostelry on London Road will undergo the renovations after a new management team took over the running of the venture.

The pub will be operated by a company called Innventure - which runs several pubs under the d'Arry's brand name - but will remain under the ownership of Greene King.

The new owners are promising a "major redevelopment" of the pub including simple authentic treatments to the existing architecture and more light.

The pub will re-open on Monday, May 12, but d'Arry's is keen to emphasise it won't be a so-called gastro pub. Instead, says the company, it will be a village pub offering freshly prepared food, wine and coffee, alongside cask beers and lagers.

d'Arry's has two other pubs in Hampshire, "The George" at Fordingbridge and "The Foresters" at Church Crookham.

It has two pubs in Hertfordshire and another in Cambridge.
