VILLAGERS who have waited nearly four years for a pub to reopen will have to wait a bit longer.

The pints were scheduled to flow again at The Bugle Inn, Twyford, today (March 17).

Its new owners, Richard Yonwin and Lenny Carr-Roberts, had hoped to reopen the venue in February but it took longer than expected to fit a new gas connection.

The problem was overcome earlier this month, but then triggered another snag that forced the March 17 date to be shelved as well.

The gas pressure in the new kitchen, which has cost around £70,000, was not at the right level, although it has now been fixed. They also had to wait for a larger gas meter to be installed.

Fingers are now crossed that the pub will reopen for business at 5pm this Saturday (March 22).

The current owners purchased The Bugle Inn several months ago. Inntown Pub Company, which bought the pub four years ago, closed it within months of purchasing the venue.

The firm initially asked to bulldoze it and build 10 homes, but the plan never materialised.

It later secured permission to build four houses on the car park, while retaining the 19th century inn.
