Hyde900’s display in the Inner Close of Winchester Cathedral from September 9-11 will give visitors the first opportunity to see some of the finds associated with the spectacular uncovering of a mediaeval culvert associated with the abbey during the recent Community Dig in Hyde.

Hyde900 will once again be taking part in the Winchester Heritage Open Days event and will host a series of experts who can reveal in more detail the story of the find of this intact 12th century feature of the construction of Hyde Abbey and the latest interpretation of how this had been a key part of the foul water drainage system of Hyde Abbey.

In addition the ever-popular tile-making in the medieval manner will take place along with a talk by Professor Chris Mulvey’s talk entitled “King Alfred’s Astounding Inventions”, the national theme of this year’s Heritage Open Days .
