A GLITTERING line-up of famous faces went head-to-head in a football match to raise funds for disabled young people.

Among the line-up was Love Island's Jake Cornish who played in the match alongside former TOWIE star Dan Osborne.

They had got together to raise cash for Treloar's at Silverlake Stadium in Eastleigh. 

Treloar’s is one of the UK’s largest specialist centres for young disabled people to live and learn.

Those who played included TV chef Dean Edwards, Survival of the Fittest star Warren Phillips and TV personality Calum Best, who is the son of Manchester United icon George Best.

Other celebrities included EastEnders stars Jake Wood, who played Max Branning, Dean Gaffney, known for playing Robbie Jackson, Danny Boy Hatchard, who portrayed the role of Lee Carter, and Matt Lapinskas, who starred as Anthony Moon.

Nine-year-old Alex Marsh won a competition to be one of the match mascots.

Alex uses a wheelchair and attends Treloar's school in Alton.

Alex's mum Suzie Marsh said: "They are just an amazing school, we were very delighted to get him in there.

"Alex is physically very disabled but cognitively very bright.

"They are really maximising his potential and they getting the best out of him.

"He was lucky enough to win the competition to be the mascot here today, that was really cool."

She added: "Alex absolutely loved going out with the players and he was just so delighted, all of the players gave him a fist bump.

"It's just been brilliant, we don't normally get the opportunity to do stuff like this."

Jane and Craig Smith attended the match with their 14-year-old daughter Rachel, who also attends Treloar's.

Rachel, who uses a wheelchair, was also chosen as a mascot and she enjoyed meeting all of the famous faces on the day.

Rachel collected as many celebrity selfies as she could.

"We came here today to support Treloar's," Jane said.

"They are an amazing school for her, it's just given her so many opportunities to do things that she normally would be able to do.

"They're a wonderful school.

"Everybody [at the match] has been absolutely fantastic. So lovely and welcoming."

Britain's Got Talent finalist Flintz took part in the match to raise money for Treloar's.

When asked about the day, the 23-year-old musician joked: "Honestly, I am broken right now, my ankle hurts.

"But all in all it's been a really good day, everyone has been so nice, I love being a part of this.

"I feel like when you're at a certain place, it's always good to give back.

"My dad has always told me that no matter where you go, always give back.

"I feel like it's nice to do things from the kindness of your heart."

Love Island 2021 star Jake Cornish also took part in the match.

"It was a great turnout," he said.

"I'm regretting it now, I can feel it in my legs but it's all for a great cause so I'm very happy.

"When I put out something in front of half a million followers, even if just one person donates or one person turns up, that's just great.

"It means a lot to be invited here."

The match was organised by Celebrity Soccer.
