Flower arrangers from across Hampshire gathered at a village church to signal the start of belated floral celebrations.

St Margaret's Church in West Wellow held its flower festival on August 27 and 28 with a theme celebrating the natural world.

The church was open all weekend offering tea and cakes for visitors as well as a 'magnificent' display of flowers.

Church warden Roy Perry thanked the arrangers and Ann Jarrett, who organised the event.

He said: "The festival was originally scheduled for 2020 to celebrate the bicentenary of the birth of Florence Nightingale who lived and is buried here.

"Sadly, Covid got in the way, but now two years later we have a most magnificent display in this beautiful mediaeval church."
