WINCHESTER'S half marathon fun run has recieved support from a UK home construction company to help fund the marshal volunteer groups.

Persimmon Homes has joined forces with Rees Leisure to support the Winchester Marafun, taking place on September 25, 2022. Rees Leisure launched the race in 2016, now offering participants two courses, a half marathon and a hilly 10k through Winchester’s historic streets and countryside.

As per the agreement, Persimmon Homes, a British home construction company, will be donating £200 to the dozens of community groups and sports teams who have volunteered to marshal the race and assist runners. The voluntary groups include local university sports clubs, scout groups, girl guides, women’s institutes and running clubs.

Hampshire Chronicle:

Chris Rees, founder of Rees Leisure said: “We couldn’t put on this amazing race without the help of all the community groups and volunteers involved. I’m incredibly pleased that we have partners like Persimmon on board who are able to support those groups who help make this event happen.

“The event looks set to be a real highlight in Hampshire’s sporting calendar”

Ian Beal, managing director of Persimmon Homes South Coast said: “The Winchester Marafun is in every sense a community and family event and we’re delighted to support this brilliant spectacle through Winchester’s iconic streets and stunning landscapes.

“From our sponsorship of Team GB to the Winchester Marafun, we want to create a positive legacy in the areas where we build homes. Encouraging people to lead active, healthy lives while also supporting local groups and sports teams is a powerful way that we can achieve this.”
