POLICE have arrested a man on suspicion of drugs supply offences after officers carried out a proactive stop and search in North Baddesley.

At around 6.45pm yesterday, Sunday August 7, officers saw a man in a black BMW parked on Bracken Road with a quantity of suspected Class A drugs inside the car.

As officers approached, the man got out of the car and made off in the direction of Meadow Close.

Officers carried out a search of the car and located three mobile phones, an electronic tablet, items associated with drugs activity, a quantity of suspected Class A and B drugs and cash.

The man returned to the car and was searched, during which two officers sustained minor injuries.

Officers also searched the nearby area and found a number of small bags of white powder.

A 44-year-old man from London has been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, assault occasioning actual bodily harm (ABH) and assault with intent to resist arrest.

He remains in custody at this time.
