FIREFIGHTERS were called to a fire near Winchester this afternoon.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight firefighters rushed to a grass fire near Woodman Lane near Sparsholt at 12.45pm this afternoon, Monday, August 8.

An off-road vehicle from Alresford supported crews as they tackled the blaze.

A spokesperson from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue services said: "The small fire was quickly extinguished before the stop message came in at 13:32."

Nobody is reported to have been hurt.

The fire service has warned that the countrysiude is tinder dry and are asking the public to take extra care.
