A WINCHESTER man has been jailed for threatening behaviour.

A judge said the sentence was needed because of the risk of reoffending by Ashik Ali.

Ali, 46, of Hyde Gate, Hyde, admitted threatening behaviour in the city on June 10.

District Judge Tim Pattinson at Basingstoke Magistrates Court on Tuesday July 26 imposed a 16-week jail sentence. He said the offence was so serious that only a custodial sentence could be justified.

Ali was also ordered to pay a £128 victim surcharge.
