A BRIDAL shop in Winchester has teamed up with a homeless charity.

Brides of Winchester announced a new long-term partnership with Winchester-based charity Trinity earlier this month.

The High Street business will raise money for Trinity Winchester to ensure they can support more women through their projects and programmes.

Trinity’s women’s service helps around 115 women each year and through this new partnership, aims to increase that number by at least 20 per cent.

Laura Ward, founder and owner of Brides of Winchester, said: "We will demonstrate how bridal can be more community-focused, and genuinely committed to modern women's issues, as such, we started to research organisations who ticked our support desires and work out what type of charitable giving fitted our business, The Trinity appointment is a beautiful starting point, which we are delighted to offer to our brides."

Brides are offered a Trinity Appointment which sees £30 given to charity, providing 15 hot meals for a woman sleeping rough for one week.

Also, depending on the value of the dress ordered there is a sliding scale of donations from £30 to £200.

This will support Trinity in providing one job club session to help women back into employment, access for one woman into the women's service for a year, and six sessions of counselling.

Furthermore, at the end of each quarter, 10 per cent of the amount raised via appointment booking fees and purchase items from ‘the much-needed list' will be given to Trinity.

Laura said: "Research shows that when people see others doing kind deeds, they are more likely to act with kindness to themselves. We hope we have inspired you with our new charitable mission."
