A FUNDRAISER saw people gather on a beach to take part in relaxation activities.

The event, organised by charity Room to Reward, which gives unused hotel rooms to nonimated community heroes, took place earlier this month on Avon Beach.

Kate Wood, organiser, said: "What a day! The sun shone, the classes were amazing and the cocktails were delicious. To everyone who was part of the first ever Relax to Reward - from our amazing instructors and event sponsors to everyone who bought a ticket and tried a class - we just want to say a huge thank you!

"We are a small charity and every penny we raise helps us make a real difference to charities, communities and the hidden heroes who do so much for them. Thanks to your wonderful support, Relax to Reward raised over £1,600!"

Room to Reward, which is based in Christchurch, has scores of hotels on its books, including Chewton Glen in New Milton, Careys Manor Hotel in Brockenhurst and Southampton Harbour Hotel, plus many more.

It allows people to nominate worthy people in their communities to receive a free hotel stay.

Kate said that plans are underway for another Relax to Reward event next year.
