A FLOWER club in Romsey recently celebrated its very own diamond Jubilee.

Romsey Flower Club is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year and last week members attended an anniversary dinner at Kimbridge Barn.

Twenty members celebrated on a warm evening. They enjoyed champagne in the courtyard on arrival, provided by the club and a three-course dinner followed.

After dinner speeches were made by the club chairman Janet Burr, who mentioned other events in the club's inaugural year and the guest of honour NAFAS Wessex & Jersey area chairman Joan Gittings congratulated members on the longevity of the club.

A photograph album and scrapbook were available for members to look back at past members and events or even spot themselves in the pictures.

As expected of a flower club, there were beautiful flowers on the table. These were arranged by club treasurer Lynne Edwards and were raffled off at the end of the evening for three lucky winners to take home.

The August meeting will be a talk by Jill Pelton on houses and gardens of the twenties and thirties held at 7pm on Thursday August 11 at Montfort Hall, Romsey.
