SAINTS have launched their 2022-23 away kit with a nod to the River Solent and Southampton's marine history.

The wavey shirt, launched under the campaign, Bold is Brave, sees a teal, aqua and gold design, and accompanies the white with red strip home kit announced last week.

The away kit is matched with teal and aqua shorts and teal and aqua socks. Both are complete with two of hummel’s iconic chevrons in gold, taking inspiration from hummel’s retro kits.

“This season’s away shirt is our boldest yet and it’s a proud reminder of where we come from, taking inspiration from The Solent,” Sarah Batters, director of marketing of partnerships for Saints, said.

“Working with hummel on this shirt has really allowed us to push the boundaries of creativity and bravery.

“We know our fans may be divided on their opinions of the shirt, given the colour choice and the standout pattern, but we look forward to seeing it worn by our fans.”

Allan Vad Nielsen, CEO for hummel, added: “We are proud of our partnership with Southampton. This season’s away shirt has given us the chance to work together to really push the boundaries and create the boldest yet.

“It’s a bold direction to take, but we hope this has resulted in a shirt that will spark conversations amongst fans and inspire them to be brave in wearing it.”

As with the home kit, Saints will be releasing its away football shirt as an NFT. One fan will be able to own the original digital design of the kit, combined with the first physical shirt off the production line. The NFT is available on Opensea with each kit launch and the auction will conclude in August.
