A MAN in his 70s has been taken to hospital after getting trapped in a car following a crash on the M27.
Emergency services were called to Junction 8 eastbound after a Lexus left the road and ended up in a ditch shortly after 10am.
The driver was trapped in the vehicle and had to be rescued by firefighters.
He was taken to hospital by road ambulance.
Fire crews from Redbridge, Hightown and St Mary’s attended the crash at the exit slip road alongside Hampshire police and paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service.
Both lanes were closed and remain shut for investigation work.
Heavy delays were building just after the crash but traffic is now moving freely.
