Natalie Wingfield, 14, currently studying for her GCSE qualifications at St Swithun’s school in Winchester, has been elected Surrey Young Mayor.

Before being elected Mayor, Natalie served on the Surrey Youth cabinet where she represented the views of her community and worked hard to improve services for young people.

She is now using her new platform to encourage more local young people to engage in the issues that are important to them. Natalie has been campaigning to raise awareness for Make Your Mark, a national ballot for young people to have their say and she works closely with the UK Youth Parliament.

Speaking of her new appointment Natalie said: “I am honoured to have been given this role and am excited about the projects I will be involved in.”

St Swithun’s headmistress Jane Gandee said: “Natalie’s appointment is recognition of her effectiveness and commitment in championing the views of young people. We look forward to watching her succeed as Young Mayor and perhaps seeing her in high office in the future.”
