WINDOWS have been smashed and a pitch has been set alight during a break-in at a youth football club. 

The damage was caused at Wellow Youth Football Club.

Windows were smashed, toilets were damaged and items gifted to the club ahead of the Jubilee celebrations were eaten. 

The main pitch was even set on fire during the vandalism.

Police now say the culprits gained access into the garages, changing rooms and main clubhouse. 

An investigation has now been launched and officers are keen to hear from anyone who can aid with their enquiries. 

In a post from Test Valley Cops on Facebook a spokesperson said: "Enquiries and forensic tests are currently ongoing and we are keen to speak to anyone who has any information.

"Please call 101 or report online via https://orlo.uk/bfmRb quoting ref: 44220216648. Crimestoppers are also contactable anonymously on 0800555111."

The incident happened overnight from Sunday into Monday. Police appealed for information on Wednesday.
