A SPECIAL meeting will be held to discuss plans for a large housing development near Romsey.

The plans for the 1,100-home estate at Whitenap were due to be discussed at Romsey Town Council's planning committee on May 26.

However, due to the size of the development and the number of documents involved, the committee's chairman, Cllr John Parker, decided to defer the discussion to a special meeting.

The meeting is set to be held on June 16, when the council will debate the application and decide if they should submit a formal objection or not.
