STUDENTS from Winchester School of Art wowed customers and visitors alike as they combined with city businesses to showcase their work during Winchester Fashion Week.
The annual event, which is organised by the Winchester BID, is held from April 4-9 and celebrates fashion and style across the city.
As part of this ‘exciting’ activity, Winchester School of Art, part of the University of Southampton, presented a series of ‘compelling and stimulating’ fashion focussed events.
MA Fashion Design students presented The White Project: a zero-waste fashion collection at The Winchester School of Art Gallery, Park Avenue.
Additionally, BA Hons Textile Design students, working in collaboration with city-based retailer Anthropologie, merchandised a range of textiles products in-store and a pop-up shop for students to sell their textiles creations direct to customers.
PR and events manager Joty Kaur at Anthropologie Europe described the work as ‘beautiful’ and a ‘perfect fit’ in the store.

Customer demand was high with the students selling much of their work during the event.
Textiles talks and practical workshops at The Winchester School of Art offered an opportunity for prospective students to experience a flavour of being part of an exciting and creative campus while learning more about the wide range of creative career pathways on offer.
The prestigious WFW Gala show featured both MA and BA Fashion and Textile Design programmes working in collaboration with The Salvation Army, White Project and Africa inspired collections. The catwalk show displayed re-worked second-hand garments and was based on themes of sustainability and diversity.

Helping raise cultural and social awareness within the local community and beyond”
