A WINCHESTER woman died after a fall caused a brain bleed, an inquest heard.
Mary Dunn, of Gordon Road, died on October 11 at Winchester Hospice following a fall at her home.
Despite an initial scan showing no signs of damage, a second showed signs of a seizure which indicated a right-sided subdural haemorrhage.
The inquest heard that Mrs Dunn was living independently at her home. However, she fell on September 13.
After being admitted to the Royal Hampshire County Hospital, she was alert and comfortable. However, on October 4, she deteriorated suddenly, finding speech difficult and had weakness in her left side.

Consultant pathologist Dr Hayley Burnley found, in a post mortem, that the cause of death was pneumonia and right-sided subdural haemorrhage.
Area coroner Jason Pegg said: “Mrs Dunn was living independently with the assistance of carers. She was admitted to hospital after a fall.
“After being admitted to hospital, she suddenly deteriorated, with difficulty speaking. The bleed on the brain caused inreversible damage.”
Mr Pegg said the death was from natural causes.
