A FORMER ex-offenders hostel in Otterbourne looks set to become a care home for young adults.

Elderfield House provided a place where low and medium risk ex-inmates can live and undertake rehabilitation courses.

According to its previous operator, the Langley House Trust, it was no longer financially sustainable when it closed in 2019.

Elderfield was the only Langley hostel where residents did a six-month Pathways to change programme that involved cognitive behaviour therapy.

Now, it is being converted to become a care home for young adults.

In a Facebook post on April 23, Paul Rodford said: “Elderfield is becoming a care home. Workmen clearing it out today.

“It's going to be a care home for young adults (18+).”

Otterbourne Parish Council confirmed this, but said they had no further details about it.

The origins of the house are 18th century. It was extended in Victorian times and again in the 20th century.
