Pupils at a Winchester school have unveiled their new sculpture, situated in the school grounds.

The environmental group at Henry Beaufort School, run by Miss McNamara, created the sculpture from recycled materials.

The students have been attending the Environment Club and have spent their time creating Ecobricks from recycled donated plastic and these have been put together with reclaimed railway sleepers, kindly donated by Romsey Reclamation.

Miss McNamara said: “We think it’s wonderful! This is a project that was started to highlight our overreliance on plastic consumption and to reduce the amount of plastic going into landfill. All of the Ecobricks used were donated from the community and we have successfully turned ‘trash into treasure’.

“Hopefully this sculpture can act as a catalyst for other ideas on upcycling and repurposing plastics.”
