A MAN has been forced to pay more than £2,500 after he dumped kitchen waste in Romsey.

Wayne Dyer, 61, of Coxford Drove, Southampton has been made to pay thousands of pounds after dumping a kitchen bin full of food cans in Packridge Lane, Romsey.

Despite initially saying he didn’t know who dumped the waste, Mr Dyer eventually admitted the offence when interviewed by council officers.

At Southampton Magistrates Court on April 29, he was fined £1,800, ordered to pay £540 in costs and a £180 victim surcharge, bringing his total to £2,520.

Posting to Facebook, leader of Test Valley Borough Council, Cllr Phil North, wrote: “My thanks, once again, go to our environmental services and legal teams who continue to work tirelessly to ensure that those responsible for these crimes have to foot the bill, not the taxpayer.”
