WINCHESTER has a number of quirky open spaces, too small really to be called parks.
There's the Friary Garden off Culver Road, Joyce's Garden on Magdalen Hill that gives a superb view of the city centre and cathedral.
And there's Scott Garden between Colebrook Street and The Weirs. Belgarum would be pleased to hear the origin of the garden on which presumably at one point, like much space in The Weirs, there stood a house.
The plaque says it is a memorial to 'Sir Leslie Scott HC 1952'.
It is a nice little space, which in the past has been spruced up by the city's Jewish community for its Mitzvah Day.
Sadly, the bench has seen better days. It does not look like it has been vandalised, more a victim of the years. Since the photo was taken it has recently been removed.
