WINCHESTER civic chiefs have agreed to postpone a deadline in drawing up housing plans with local parish councils.
Last week the Chronicle reported pressure from parish councils over a looming deadline over housing numbers in the new local plan, a highly controversial subject in local villages.
They included Hursley, Compton and Shawford, Badger Farm, South Wonston, Oliver’s Battery and Sparsholt.
Hursley Parish Council chairman and city council election candidate David Killeen said: “We are concerned that the tight timetable is forcing parish councils to make a rushed decision to allocate another 300 houses by the end of April.”
In a statement the city council said: “We have agreed to the request for an extension from the parish council for this important work and will be writing to all parish councils to advise them of the revised deadline.”
