A POPULAR Mexican burrito bar is set to launch a new restaurant at the former site of a Winchester Chinese takeaway.

Established over a decade ago in Southampton, Mexigo is now set to bring a taste of Latin America to the city with a branch soon opening in Wavell Way, Stanmore in place of what was formerly Jumbo Chinese takeaway.

Announcing the news on social media, a post from the business read: "We're gearing up to bring our fresh and exciting Mexican flavours to Winchester! We're even going to be spoiling you guys with a few items you can't get anywhere else. Our dishes are made from the freshest possible ingredients. Expect succulent home slow-cooked meats, salsas and sauces made in restaurant, and freshly diced salad items for the perfect crunch.

"It's not just burritos, bowls and fajitas you can look forward to. We serve up a huge range of sides, from fries, to hot cheese bites, to wings and much more. We'll be located in Wavell Way in the Stanmore area, perfectly located for local residents to takeaway, as well as orders through Deliveroo. There's parking out front and easy access for all customers."

Mexigo opened its London Road restaurant in Southampton in 2011, quickly establishing itself as a firm favourite in the city by serving up 'authentic Mexican and tex-mex' flavours in the form of burritos, fajitas, tacos and more.

However, the company behind Mexigo closed its sister store in Bournemouth following the expiration of its lease in 2019 after five years of business in Dorset.

Now embarking on a fresh venture in Winchester, the eatery is yet to confirm when its new store will be opening, although it has teased that information will be released "soon".
