DRIVERS were left frustrated as two Winchester petrol stations ran out of fuel this morning.
Motorists in need of a refill had to divert at both Sainsbury's in Badger Farm Road and Tesco in Easton Lane after the supermarket pumps ran dry.
Both supermarkets have said they are having constant deliveries and cannot provide detailed information on delivery times.
This comes as climate campaigners continue to block oil terminals across the country.
Arrests were made at protests across Hampshire last week after activists "chose to act outside the law."
This included the BP refinery in Hamble and the Esso terminal in Hythe.
Officers attended the protest in Hamble Lane and Copse Lane and the protest in Hythe, where four arrests were made in total.
In Hamble Lane, a 20-year-old man from Bath and a 17-year-old from Morary in Scotland were arrested on suspicion of aggravated trespass and failing to comply with conditions.
Meanwhile, a 52-year-old woman from Farnborough and a 57-year-old man from Brighton were arrested on suspicion of aggravated trespass at the Hythe Terminal.
All four have been released on conditional police bail while enquiries continue.
The Chronicle has approached both Tesco and Sainsbury's for clarification on what caused the shortage.
