THE latest edition of a highly reputable travel guide covering the South Downs Way has been released.

The new guide, by travel publishing company Trailblazer, contains a guide to the 100-mile footpath which stretches from Winchester to Eastbourne.

It includes hiking routes rewalked in both directions as well as practical information not usually found in walking guides in the UK.

These include reviews of places to stay, places to eat, attractions along the way and detailed public information showing all access points on the path and car parks near the trail.

The guide, written by Henry Stedman and Jim Manthorpe, also includes 60 colour photos, colour flower guides, 60 trail maps, 11 town plans, 10 stage maps with profiles and two overview maps.

Trailblazer founder, owner and publisher, Bryn Thomas, said: “This guidebook contains all the information needed to talk the Way. The hard work has been done so walkers can plan their walk without having to consult numerous websites and other books and maps.

“20 years ago, when Trailblazer started the series, it used hand-drawn maps on a bigger scale than other walking maps because it could put all the information on the maps themselves such as directions, tricky junctions, points of interest, and walking times."

The book costs £12.99 and can be bought at branches of Waterstones and the Trailblazer website at trailblazer-guides.com.
