A POPULAR Colden Common pub is set to reopen its doors after a large-scale refurbishment.

The Fisher’s Pond, in Main Road, has been shut for over a month while work took place to transform the traditional country taproom.

Staff are now readying themselves for the big relaunch, with the pub due to officially open to guests from Friday, March 25.

Changes include the introduction of a “stylish” private dining area, a new garden and fresh interiors. Along with a new look, the relaunched Fisher’s Pond has also introduced an all-new food offering.

In addition to lunch and dinner, the pub will now offer a brunch menu which boasts a selection of popular dishes from 9am until midday Monday to Saturday and 11.30am on Sundays.

The dinner menu has also had a revamp and will see the pub serve up freshly cooked dishes including chargrilled skewers, stone baked pizzas, steaks and roasts.

Ben Stothard, general manager at Fisher’s Pond, said: “We’re working hard to create a truly unique and stimulating experience for our guests and are so excited to unveil the new Fisher’s Pond to the local area.

“The changes that are currently underway are all centred around creating an original country pub with a real difference. The new Fisher’s Pond will provide both our regulars and first-time guests with an exciting location to enjoy high-quality dining in beautiful surroundings.

“Both myself and the whole team are incredibly excited to open the doors and welcome guests to experience the new Fisher’s Pond for themselves, we hope that they love the transformation.”

Guests can be the first to experience the all-new Fisher’s Pond by attending rehearsal lunch and dinner events on Tuesday, March 22. This will provide locals with the unique opportunity to explore the new menu prior to the official opening and receive a discount of 50 per cent off food. To celebrate the opening, The Fisher’s Pond is also holding an exclusive launch party event from 7pm on Wednesday 23rd March. Here, guests can enjoy canapes of dishes from the new menu, chat with Ben and the team and enjoy live music.

Places are limited and strictly guest list only. Slots will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. For further details and to secure a place on the guest list email events@spottydogcommunications.com.

Following the significant investment, eight new full and part time jobs have been created for the local area. The pub is currently seeking to recruit new team members for both front and back of house roles.

Meanwhile, the neighbouring Queen’s Head pub, which was also situated by Fisher's Pond on the corner of Portsmouth and Winchester Road, is set to be demolished.

The pub, which has been closed since the pandemic in March 2020, will make way for a 60-bed care home.
