CHILDREN across Winchester dressed up for World Book Day.
Scores of schools encouraged their pupils to come in to lessons in fancy dress.
The day, held on Thursday, was in its 25th year and was set up with the aim to help change children’s lives by making reading together and reading for pleasure a habit for life.

To celebrate the day children dressed up as their favourite characters, from from children whizzing around casting spells like their favourite Harry Potter characters to creative manga character and aliens who love underpants, the options were endless for Hampshire's kids.
Alfie Charles and Martha Mae, from Winchester, were getting in to the spirits of things as Pinocchio and Arial from the Little Mermaid.
Mum Emily Kate Milne shared their picture with the Hampshire Chronicle and said they had 'great fun'.
